About Us
As the Centre for the non-immigrant community at Ryerson, International Student Services (ISS) is crucial to support all international students, as well as international scholars through specialized services and promotion of international awareness at Ryerson.
ISS strives to provide helpful and comprehensive support to all members of the international community throughout their time at Ryerson and in Canada. Some of the essential services that ISS provides include:
- Orientation Program for International Students
- Compulsory University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP) enrolment and advising.
- Status Letters for international students regarding immigration, financial and other related needs.
- Immigration advising and services for study permits, work permits, temporary resident visas (TRV), U.S. visas, permanent residence applications and many more.
- Acting as the Designated Institution Representative (DIR) to facilitate Off-Campus Work Permit Program for international students.
- Information for Permanent Resident (PR) application and specialized Canadian legal services and resources.
- Hiring international students, distribution of job postings and promotion of employment opportunities for international students through the International Student Services Work Experience Program (ISSWEP).
- Award nomination and financial assistance.
- Networking Events: Welcome Party for International Students, special international celebration, monthly International Lunches, Tea Houses and much more.
- Peer Support Program for all new international students.
- "International Eye" informative, electronic monthly newsletter.
- International student mailing list providing updates on immigration policies, events and job opportunities, etc.
- Ryerson International Connections to swap language skills with other students.
- Other personal assistance, advising and referral for issues such as academic, personal, health, social, and anything related to international students' lives at Ryerson in Canada.
- Consultation services for university policies and procedures regarding hiring non-immigrant staff, faculties, research assistance, and teaching assistance, etc.
- Advocate and training for cross-cultural understanding and communication.
