Support from International Student Services

As the centre for the non-immigrant community at Ryerson, International Student Services (ISS) is crucial to support international students and international scholars through specialized services and promotion of international awareness at Ryerson. Even as international students graduate we understand that they may still require support to transition from university life.

ISS provides a wide range of services which extend to international student alumni and include the following:

• Securing Post-Graduation Employment
  • Confirmation of eligibility for the post-graduation work-permit to a Canadian employer
  • Immigration advising for post-graduation work permit applications (must submit an application to CIC within 90 days of final grades released)
  • Verification and advising to obtain an off-campus work permit for summer employment or transition to the post-graduation work permit
• Ontario Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) Participation
  • Immigration advising to support application
  • Network with PNP Officers at the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration
• Permanent Residence to Canada Application
  • Network with CIC Immigration Officers, PNP Officers and immigration lawyers
  • Immigration advising to support PR application
  • Assistance with obtaining application and supplementary documents
  • Inviting Family Members to Attend Convocation
  • Confirmation of enrollment and date of convocation for family members’ TRV application
  • Assistance in preparing an invitation letter to Canadian Consulate Immigration Officials
  • Health Insurance Services
  • Extension of UHIP coverage for up to two months, September & October
  • Applications for the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) once eligible
  • Information for obtaining alternative health insurance
• Support to Attend Graduate School
  • Immigration advising to support transition
  • Assistance with study permit renewal

Alumni Relations at Ryerson

Alumni Relations serves the University and its alumni body by engaging all alumni in the life of the University, beginning with their first experience with Ryerson and extending throughout their lives. International student alumni can take advantage of the services offered by staying in touch and getting involved in alumni organizations and events. As well, students can benefit from a wide range of alumni privileges that include the alumni card, group rates, discounts, etc.
