Tax Service

As an international student at Ryerson, you have an opportunity to file your tax on CAMPUS and most importantly for FREE! All you need to do is to come to ISS office (POD-50A) and book an appointment or RSVP.

Tax Services will run Every Monday & Friday from March 10th - 24th, 2014
1:30pm - 5pm at POD-152 (next to Hub cafeteria)

Items you should bring to file your tax return at the ISS Tax Services:

  1. A USB key to save your tax return;
  2. Your Passport and Study Permit;
  3. Notice of Assessment (if you filed income taxes last year);
  4. Your Social Insurance Number card (if you have one);
  5. Individual Tax Number (necessary if you do not have a Social Insurance Number):

  6. Were you employed in 2012? If YES, bring your T4 or T4A forms (issued by your employer);
  7. T2202A form, i.e. “Eligible Tuition Amount” (can be downloaded from the RAMSS @ Student Fees under "T2202A Inquiry");
  8. If you received any scholarships, bursaries, fellowships or research grants (issued by the University), bring your T4A form;
  9. T3 or T5 forms if you earned interest on investments and deposits (issued by banking and financial institutions);
  10. Any monthly transit passes that you purchased in 2012;
  11. Rent costs - calculate your rent for the period of January 1, 2012 - December 31, 2012 (receipt or letter from landlord are needed);
  12. If you have a spouse or children living with you in Canada, you may be eligible to receive RC62 - Universal Child Tax Benefit for children is 6 or under;
  13. Donation Receipts - if you made any charitable donations during the period of January 1 - December 31, 2012;
  14. A VOID cheque or bank statement - if willing to receive direct deposit;
  15. Make sure to bring any other documents that you feel are relevant.

** IF you do not have your Social Insurance Number (SIN), you will require to get a Notary Service for your International Taxation Number (ITN).

Please bring documents (listed above) and see, Ryerson Students' Union (RSU) Lawyer Mr. William Reid to get a FREE Notary Service at RSU Office, 3rd floor Student Centre on the following dates:

Friday, March 21nd   4:15 pm - 5:45 pm
