2013 International Student Orientation

At the start of each school year, International Student Services (ISS) hosts a series of orientation events for new international students.  These orientation events are very important, and all new international students are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to register and attend.  By participating at these events, you will receive essential information such as immigration regulations, health insurance requirements, specialized events and workshops taking place throughout the year, and the opportunity to get to know your fellow international students. 

You have made a big step by choosing to come to Canada, and ISS is here to guide and support you during your studies at Ryerson!

International Welcome Booth

All new international students MUST visit the International Welcome Booth to pick up a “Welcome Package”. This package contains important documents such as the enrollment form for the MANDATORY University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP). You can also meet other international students and the ISS Peer Supporters! Make sure not to miss the booth!

Ryerson Annual Welcome Party for International Students

Join other international students, staff and faculty for this special welcome CELEBRATION from Ryerson! Enjoy free food, entertainment and prizes. You can also meet the ISS Peer Support Team who will guide you during your first year at Ryerson. Remember, many students make lifelong friendships during their orientation, so you should not miss this great opportunity!

Undergraduate International Student Orientation Workshop

New undergraduate international students must not miss this IMPORTANT workshop! International students are responsible for knowing immigration and university regulations that apply to their status in Canada! By attending this workshop, you will learn how to renew your study permit, obtain work permits, apply for a temporary visa (TRV), enroll in the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP), and participate in the International Peer Support program. Make sure to attend this informative workshop!

Community Welcome Fair For International Students

After the Undergraduate Workshop, make sure to come by the Community Welcome Fair for International Students! This is our way to welcome you as new members of the Ryerson community. This fair is open to everyone, and you can interact with some exciting companies and organizations. Discover essential services such as banking and telecommunications, and find out how you can get involved in your community. We hope to see you at the fair!

Graduate International Student Orientation Workshop

Graduate International Students MUST attend this essential event. The workshop will cover IMPORTANT information relevant to your graduate studies such as finding a teaching assistant/graduate assistant position, getting a Social Insurance Number (SIN), applying for the university health insurance plan (UHIP) and maintaining your status in Canada. Mark your calendars and make sure to attend this workshop!
