Investigations & Crime Prevention Office
The Investigations & Crime Prevention Office is responsible for the investigation of crime and other security incidents directly impacting Ryerson, with the objectives of reducing crime, recovering property, identifying suspects, identifying vulnerabilities, recommending and managing crime prevention measures and programs and providing information to community members and departments on ways to be safer and more secure.
The Investigations & Crime Prevention Office has a team of full time investigators on staff who review reports of criminal and security incidents; interview people with potential knowledge of incidents; collect, preserve and present evidence; liaise with victims and stakeholders, engage in major case management and liaise with external law enforcement, criminal courts and internal judicial bodies.
Investigators also make recommendations to departments, provide advice on security infrastructure and manage projects and programs that help reduce the risk of crime and security incidents.
Successfully identifying suspects, recovering property and providing evidence for appropriate proceedings, coupled with effective crime prevention practices, plays a very significant role in reducing criminal incidents and security risks.
