Awards, Scholarships & Bursaries

The award application process is now CLOSED for 2016.

The 2017 award application process will commence in early August.

There are many awards available to both new and returning students within the Ted Rogers School of Information Technology Management. Please refer to the links below for more information about the award, eligibility criteria, application procedures and deadline. Please submit completed applications to the TRSITM Office (TRS 2-004).

Ankit Chhibber Awards for Academic Excellence

Description: This award is available to assist students enrolled in the Ted Rogers School of Information Technology Management in memoriam of a former Business Technology Management student, Ankit Chhibber.

Award Value: 2 * up to $1,000

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Full-Time student who has completed their 1st year of the BTM program and is enrolled full-time in their 2nd year of the program
  • Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.00.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.

OR

  • Full-Time student who has completed their 2nd year of the BTM program and is enrolled full-time in their 3rd year of the program
  • Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.00.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.

 

Students must apply by providing the following:

  • Completed Student Budget Form
  • Provide a one page essay outlining their activities within the School, the university and the broader community, that demonstrate outstanding leadership and commitment to helping others.

Donald K. Jackson Award

Description: The Donald K. Jackson Award is available to assist second year students enrolled in the Ted Rogers School of Information Technology Management.

Award Value: 1 * up to $2,200

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Full-time student currently registered in the SECOND year of the Ted Rogers School of Information Technology Management Program
  • Must demonstrate financial need.
  • C+ or better average at the end of first year of FULL-TIME studies.
  • Must be able to demonstrate leadership qualities.
  • i.e. Attach documentation and letter(s) of reference of volunteer work, non-profit organizations etc.

 

Students must apply by providing the following:

  • Completed Student Budget Form
  • Attach a personal statement, addressed to the TRSITM Awards Committee, outlining leadership qualities and provide copies of detailed documentation.

Irene Sahota Award in ITM

Description: The Irene Sahota Award in Information Technology Management is Awarded to a BTM Full-Time Degree student for high academic achievement in ITM 305 - Systems Analysis and Design during their second academic year, 2015-2016.

Award Value: 1 * up to $1,200

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Must be an Ontario resident
  • Must demonstrate financial need

 

Students must apply by providing the following:

  • Completed Student Budget Form
  • Attach a personal statement, addressed to the ITM Awards Committee

Enbridge Gas Distribution Database/Data Management Summer Employment Award

Description: An award is being given by Enbridge Gas Distribution which offers a BTM student the opportunity for employment in the summer between third and fourth years.

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Full-time registered students who achieved high academic standing in ITM500 – Data and Information Management, currently enrolled in third year and plans to return to fourth year.
  • Student must be very interested in database administration and/or data management disciplines.
  • Minimum CGPA of 3.00 at the end of Winter 2016
  • Co-op students are not eligible for this award

 

Students must apply by providing the following:

  • Prepare a typed resume, with your student number, outlining previous work experience, academic awards, extra-curricular activities, etc.
  • Attach a typed covering letter addressed to the TRSITM Awards Committee, outlining the reasons why the opportunity for this award is of interest.

Enbridge Gas Distribution Technology Planning Summer Employment Award

Description: An award is being given by Enbridge Gas Distribution which offers a TRSITM student the opportunity for employment in the summer between third and fourth years.

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Full-time registered student, who plans to achieve high academic standing in CITM 330 - Supply Chain Process Architecture (final grade will be checked in late December 2016)
  • Minimum CGPA of 3.00 at the end of the Fall 2016 term. (CGPA will be checked in late December 2016)
  • Must be very proficient with Microsoft Office tools to prepare Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents.
  • Must have very good verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Must be currently enrolled in third year and plans to return to fourth year.
  • Co-op students are not eligible for this award.

 

Students must apply by providing the following:

Leadership Award for Overall Excellence

Description: This award is for a fourth-year full-time degree undergraduate student in the Ted Rogers School of Information Technology Management who has demonstrated leadership abilities and academic excellence through involvement in extracurricular activities within TRSM or Ryerson 

Award Value: 1 * up to $2,000

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Be a full-time degree fourth year student in the Ted Rogers School of Information Technology Management
  • Have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 and be in clear academic standing
  • Have demonstrated leadership abilities through involvement in extracurricular activities within TRSM or Ryerson
  • Co-op students are not eligible for this award

 

Students must apply by providing the following:

  • A 500 word essay describing their leadership abilities/experiences through their involvement in extra-curricular activities within TRSM or Ryerson
  • A minimum of one letter of reference, in support of student’s leadership

Stan Heath Memorial Award

Description: This award provides financial assistance to undergraduate students in the Ted Rogers School of Information Technology Management who demonstrate leadership and involvement in the Ted Rogers School of Management community with the intention of increasing awareness and advancing the reputation of the School and building partnerships with the external community.

Award Value: 1 * up to $1,800

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Be a Canadian Citizen, a Permanent Resident or a Protected Person
  • Be an Ontario resident
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Be a full-time student in the Ted Rogers School of Information Technology Management
  • Have completed 1st, 2nd or 3rd year by the time of award application
  • Have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 and be in clear academic standing
  • Have demonstrated leadership and involvement in the Ted Rogers School of Management community with the intention of increasing awareness and advancing the reputation of the School and building partnerships with the external community

 

Students must apply by providing the following:

  • Completed Student Budget Form
  • A minimum of one letter of reference in support of the student's leadership, involvement in the school community and external community partnership building
  • A 500 word personal statement, describing what the applicant has done, which demonstrates the student's leadership, involvement in the management school community and external community partnership building

The Marcelli-Paglieri Award for Part-time Degree Students

Description: “The Marcelli-Paglieri Award” will be awarded to a part-time degree student in The Ted Rogers School of Information Technology Management who has balanced full-time work with academics and community involvement.

Award Value: 1 * up to $1,000

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Be registered as a part-time undergraduate student in the Ted Rogers School of Information Technology at Ryerson University and have clear academic standing
  • Demonstrate overall academic excellence with a minimum CGPA of 2.5

 

Students must apply by providing the following:

  • Proof of Full-Time employment (letter from employer)
  • Attach a typed covering letter of 250 words addressed to the TRSITM Awards Committee, providing evidence of community involvement while maintaining academic proficiency.

The Killin Family Award

Description: The Killin Family Award is available to assist students enrolled in the Ted Rogers School of Information Technology Management.

Award Value: 1 * up to $1,400

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Full-time or Part-time Degree registration in the Ted Rogers School of Information Technology Management.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.
  • Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.67.
  • Must be a Canadian Citizen or an Ontario resident.
  • Must be able to demonstrate leadership qualities and commitment to entrepreneurial pursuits

 

Students must apply by providing the following:

  • Completed Student Budget Form
  • Attach a personal statement not to exceed 500 words, addressed to the TRSITM Awards Committee, outlining the role that extracurricular activities, with a focus on community pursuits, has played in the totality of their individual development. As well as, outlining a demonstrated commitment to entrepreneurial pursuits.
  • Attach letter(s) of reference of volunteer work, non-profit organization and/or copies of documentation etc.

THINKTeam Award

Description: This award is to recognize and support a student with financial need in the Ted Rogers School of Information Technology Management who demonstrates commitment to the success of not only themselves, but of their peers as well. The recipient of this award will be a student who helps to foster a collaborative and supportive environment within TRSITM. 

Award Value: 1 * up to $2,000

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Be a Full-time or Part-time degree student in the BTM program
  • Have a Clear Academic Standing
  • Must demonstrate financial need

 

Students must apply by providing the following:

  • Completed Student Budget Form
  • Provide two letters of references from BTM students to support your contribution to a collaborative environment within the program
  • Provide a (500 words) essay that outlines how you contributed to a collaborative and supportive environment within the BTM program. Include examples such as how you have acted as a team-oriented student within the program and how you may have supported peers in their academic endeavors

Dennis Mock Student Leadership Award 2017

Description: The Dennis Mock Student Leadership Awards recognize graduating students who have made outstanding voluntary extracurricular contributions to their school or academic program department, their faculty, or to Ryerson University as a whole. The awards acknowledge and encourage student participation in university affairs.
 

Award Value: Non-monetary. 
 

Application Deadline: Monday, February 13, 2017.
 

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Students who have/are graduating in Fall 2016 or Spring 2017 (the current academic year)*
  • In a Full-time or Part-time Ryerson degree program*
  • Clear academic standing (1.67 CGPA) at the time of nomination*
  • *Exception applies to LIFE Institute members nominated for the Faculty wide award

Students must apply by providing the following:

  • Complete the Dennis Mock Leadership Award Form 2017
  • Before completing the nomination form, you must inform the nominee of your intention as each nominee will be contacted by the Student Awards and Scholarships Office (SASO) to provide consent and may be asked to confirm details. All award recipients will be required to submit a short award presentation citation (100 words max).
