Established in 1952, the Ryerson School of Journalism is an international leader in journalism education, with more than 600 undergraduate and graduate students. More than 1,300 applicants annually seek admission for 150 spots in the undergraduate program and over 200 apply for 25 spots in the graduate program that was established in 2007.

With its combination of liberal arts and practical experience, modern facilities and experienced instructors, the school has graduated leading journalists such as Toronto Star reporters Michelle Shephard, Stuart Laidlaw, and Robyn Doolittle, the Globe and Mail’s Kirk Makin, Jim Sheppard and Elizabeth Renzetti, CBC’s Wendy Mesley, Suhanna Meharchand and Marissa Nelson, CTV London and Washington bureau chiefs Tom Kennedy and Paul Workman, Huffington Post Canada editor-in-chief Kenny Yum, TVO’s Pia Chattopadhyay, Canadian Press editor-in-chief Scott White, and thousands more.
