Biography:

Tim Falconer went to McGill University to study mining engineering, but ended up with a degree in English literature; he also did a year of journalism at Carleton University. A freelance writer since 1985, he has written for many magazines and newspapers and is the author of three books: Watchdogs and Gadflies: Activism from Marginal to Mainstream (Penguin, 2001); Drive: A Road Trip Through Our Complicated Affair with the Automobile (Penguin, 2008); and That Good Night: Ethicists, Euthanasia and End-of-Life Care (Penguin, 2009). He is currently co-writing Drop the Worry Ball: How to Parent in the Age of Entitlement with psychologist and popular parenting expert Alex Russell (Wiley, 2012). 

Tim joined the part-time faculty at Ryerson in 1994-1995. Over the years, he’s taught several different magazine and feature writing courses and has been the instructor on five issues of the Ryerson Review of Journalism, including the Winter 2012 issue.
