Biography:
After working in foreign aid in India, Fiji and Canada, Alex Gillis graduated from Ryerson's Journalism program and began writing for Toronto Life, The Toronto Star and other publications. In 2009, he published A Killing Art, a literary nonfiction book about the history of a martial art called Tae Kwon Do (www.akillingart.com).

Research Interest:
International development, human rights and journalism, investigative reporting, literary journalism, academic integrity/cheating, consumer affairs in the automotive industry, and martial arts history.
