Library Cards - Alumni and Retirees

Alumni: Alumni must bring their alumni card and one other piece of photo ID to the Library Circulation Desk to apply for a Library barcode. The Alumni Relations Office sends graduates their alumni card after graduation. The cost to borrow from the Library as an alumni is $50 per year. Loan periods vary with individual items borrowed, but generally books may be borrowed for 2 weeks. Alumni borrowers may borrow up to 10 books at one time, but may not borrow periodicals, audio-visual items or reference or reserve items. This card does not include off-campus access to most of the Library's electronic resources. As well, interlibrary loans are not available to alumni. Alumni with an alumni card issued by the Alumni Relations Office or an Alumni Library card can request a temporary account for using the computers in the Library's Information Commons.

Professor and Librarian Emerita/Emeritus: Faculty and Librarians who have applied for and received Professor or Librarian Emerita/Emeritus cards may bring this card and one other piece of ID to the Library Circulation Desk and apply for Library privileges. Loan periods depend on individual items, but generally books may be borrowed for 2 weeks, with 3 renewals. Only 2 reserve items and 3 periodicals/maps may be borrowed at the same time. Interlibrary loans are free. Remote access to on-line resources is available.

Retired Faculty and Staff: Retired Ryerson employees may apply for Library privileges at the Library Circulation Desk. Proof of retirement status from the Human Resources Department and another piece of personal identification will be required. Loan periods depend on individual items, but generally books may be borrowed for 2 weeks, with 3 renewals. Only 2 reserve items and 3 periodicals/maps may be borrowed at the same time. Due to licensing agreements remote access to on-line resources is not available to retirees, nor are interlibrary loan services.
