New Services for Persons with Disabilities

The Library would like to introduce a new librarian to the Ryerson community. Kelly Dermody has been hired to fill an 8-month contract librarian position as Coordinator of Library Services for Persons with Disabilities. Funding for this position has been provided by Student Services and the University Library. She has been hired to coordinate the acquisition of materials in alternative formats for students registered with the Access Centre, provide library instruction, and to
write a report on "best practice" in other universities, so that we can establish an appropriate level of staffing for this service on an on-going basis. Kelly can be reached at 979-5000, x4120, or at kdermody@ryerson.ca. Her office is located in LIB395 on the 3rd floor of the Library next to the Adaptive Technology Rooms.

Get it! @ Ryerson

In January the Library introduced a new service called Getit! @ Ryerson. This service allows users to connect from a citation in one database to the full text of an article in another. Click on the Get it! Ryerson button when you find an article citation. Getit! will connect you to the article if we subscribe to the journal and will offer other options if we don't.

Refworks

RefWorks is a web-based bibliographic citation manager that allows you to collect, save and organize bibliographic citations to journal articles, books, web sites and other sources that you have found during your research. With it you can create correctly formatted bibliographies in the style of your choice.

This service is freely available to all Ryerson students, staff and faculty and is accessible both on and off campus. To use the software, you will need to create an account .
