External Reader Policies

Who May Borrow

  • students, faculty and staff members from OCUL institutions participating in Direct Borrowing
  • CREPUQ card holders (graduate students and faculty members from Quebec universities having an IUBP card)
  • Borrowers presenting a valid external borrowers card or alumni card.

Borrowing Period

1 or 2 week loans (may renew if there is no hold on the item)

Type of Material Which May be Borrowed

All circulating material with the exception of Reserve items, periodicals, reference, rare books, and any items considered special loans.

Fines

Fines are $.50 per item/day including Saturday, Sunday, and holidays. Maximum fine is $20.00 per item.

ID Required to Apply for External Borrowing Privileges

ID with photo, e.g., driver's license. If no photo ID, then bank statement or bill with name and address, e.g., Bell/Hydro plus 1 other ID, e.g., major credit card, ID from Direct Borrowing institution, or CREPUQ/IUBP card.

Charges

$75.00/year which is applicable only to those purchasing an external borrowers card.

$50.00/year for Alumni.

*There is no charge for members from OCUL institutions participating in Direct Borrowing

Card Expired

1 year from date of application

Miscellaneous Services

Hold requests may be placed on items out on loan.

Reference services, interlibrary loan, computer search services (fee for service), microform copying - $.10 per page, coin operated photocopy machines.
