Journals frequently provide the most up-to-date source of publicly available information on topics related to Professional Communication. The Ryerson University Library provide access to a broad range of journals and other periodicals in print and electronic formats. The print collection is located on the 5th floor of the Library and is shelved in Library of Congress call number order.

Journals provide current information. In general, journals may be categorised into the following types:

Scholarly or peer reviewed journals are the main channels for reporting recent studies conducted by academic and professional researchers. Professional and trade journals are directed towards practitioners in the field. General interest journals provide general information to a wide audience and popular journals are written to entertain, persuade or inform the general public.
