Graphic Communications Management Research Guide

Introduction

Graphic Communications Management refers to the management of technologies for graphic reproduction, typically on printing presses including lithographic, flexographic, gravure, or digital. This includes the capture of images, formerly by scanning of photographic transparencies or prints, but now more commonly by digital photography; layout of pages with text, photos, and vector-graphic diagrams, logos, and illustrations; output of digital files to metal or plastic plates or to PostScript page description language for digital printing; and printing with ink or toner on paper. Printed pages or multi-page signatures are commonly folded, cut, and bound with various binding equipment. The same or similar layouts may be translated into HTML code for display on the World Wide Web.
