Information Technology Management Research Guide

Introduction

This guide supports the programmes offered by the School of  Information Technology Management (formerly AIM), and the Business Information Systems programme within the School of Business. It covers research on the management of information systems, systems applications development, the Internet, telecommunications, network management and related topics.

Books

To identify books on your topic, search the Library Catalogue by the keyword option. In general, you can find related titles in the following call number ranges:

  • Information technology and managment: T58.6, HD30.33-38, and HF5548
  • Computing: QA75.5 - QA76.95
  • Telecommunications, networking, and the Internet: TK5101 -TK5105

Videos

All videos are listed in the library catalogue. Search by keyword as follows. Example:

You can also limit your search to videos, or other types of av material, by choosing the "Limit this search" option at the top of the screen. Then select material type, and choose the desired format. For further information, contact  Audio-Visual Services.

Periodicals

Ryerson provides access to a broad range of journals and other periodicals in print and electronic formats. The Full-Text Periodicals Titles List is a complete list of both print and electronic titles available, with the exception of periodicals on microfiche or Lexis-Nexis.The print collection is on the 5th floor. Full-text periodicals can be accessed through the library home page. Some journals also have their own websites.

Finding Journal Articles

To identify articles on your topic, you will need to search an index or full-text database. A list of the most important indexes and databases relevant to Information Technology Management follows. For further useful databases, consult  Databases by Subject, particularly the Science and Technology,  Business, News and Multidisciplinary sections. To connect from home, consult the instructions on  Accessing Databases from Home. You may want to use Boolean search strategies to search these databases effectively.

Print Periodicals

The print periodicals are located on the 5th floor, and are listed by title in the Library Catalogue, as well as the Full-Text Periodicals Titles List. Periodicals on microfiche are also located on the 5th floor, and are listed in the Library Catalogue only.

In general, periodicals on information technology and managment can be found in the call number ranges: HF5541 - HF5548, T58.6. Titles on computing can be found in the QA75.5 - QA76.95 range. Titles on telecommunications, networking, and the internet can be found in the TK5101 -TK5105 range.

Some journals have their own home pages on the web. A brief list of relevant titles is included here.  To locate others, use a  Search Engine. These sites often provide limited information.
