Faculty Teaching Awards logo

There are a variety of teaching awards that recognize and honour excellent educators at the departmental, institutional, provincial, national, and international levels. The Faculty Teaching Awards have been honoring Ryerson Faculty since 1995.

Chancellor's Award of Distinction

This award is to be conferred on an educator recognized within the Ryerson Community as an exemplary model of life-long career commitment to teaching and learning as evidenced by an outstanding and sustained record of teaching excellence, by significant contributions over time to advancing teaching and learning at Ryerson and by sustained educational leadership.

The award consists of an award certificate and monetary award of $5,000, to be presented at an annual Awards Ceremony. The recipient will be included in the Fall or Spring Convocation and will present a Convocation Address.

Past recipients

President's Award for Teaching Excellence

This award will recognize a Ryerson educator who has demonstrated continuing teaching excellence and who made contributions to advancing teaching and learning at Ryerson. The award will consist of an award certificate and monetary award of $3,000, to be presented at an annual Awards Ceremony.

The recipient will be included in the Fall or Spring Convocation and will present a Convocation Address.

The Provost's Experiential Teaching Award

This award will recognize a Ryerson educator or a group of educators who have an outstanding teaching record and who made contributions to advancing teaching and learning at Ryerson with a particular focus on students' experiential learning.

The award will consist of an award certificate and monetary award of $2,000, to be presented at an annual Awards Ceremony.

Deans' Teaching Awards

These awards recognize Ryerson educators who have demonstrated continuing teaching excellence and achievement in instruction. There are 13 awards, two each for Arts, Community Services, FCAD, TRSM, FEAS and FoS and one for the G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education.

Each award consists of an award certificate and monetary award of $2,000, to be presented at an annual Awards Ceremony

Past recipients

Yeates School of Graduate Studies Outstanding Contribution to Graduate Education Awards

This award recognizes faculty excellence in the complex process of mentoring graduate students to prepare them for productive careers.

There are a total of 6 awards: 1 to be allocated to a faculty member in each of Ryerson’s Faculties. Each Award consists of a certificate and a monetary award of $2,000, to be presented at an annual Faculty Teaching Awards Ceremony. Nominations are due at noon on January 9, 2013.
