University Teaching Development Program (UTDP)
If you are a new or experienced teacher, or a graduate student teaching in the academic year 2013/2014, this program will provide you with a solid foundation in university teaching and learning, and an opportunity to advance your scholarship in this area. In addition, you will be an active participant in the evolution of the Ryerson teaching community.
Program Structure:
- The Program runs for one semester (September 18 - November 27, 2013)
- Elements of the Program include: workshops, Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW), and the development of a teaching dossier.
- Participants have 2 years to complete the program.
- The Program is limited to 15 participants.

- UTDP 1st Seminar
- Active Learning - Student Engagement, Expanding Instructional Strategies, Active Lecturing
- Teaching Large Classes (Open for Teaching Community)
- Web 2.0 Workshop
- Teaching Dossier (Open for Teaching Community)
- UTDP 2nd Seminar
- Course Design: Five Principles of Good Course design, Learning Outcomes, Taxonomies of Learning
- Conflict in Group Work (Open for Teaching Community)
- Assessment & Grading, Aligning Outcomes, Methods and Assessments
- Final Session
Fundamentals
- Attend all the above workshops and seminars.
- Attend the Instructional Skills Workshop, The fee for the ISW is waived for the UTDP participants. The list of dates are available at the ISW webpage.
Teaching Dossier
- Attend the Dossier Development Workshop.
- Complete a Teaching Dossier that includes evidence of teaching effectiveness and student learning.
- Present or participate in a Teaching & Learning in Higher Education conference.
