Using Delicious

Last Updated: May 2010

The LTO is now on Delicious! All the links on our resources page (and many that aren't!) are also bookmarked on Delicious.

New to Delicious? "Delicious is a social bookmarking service that allows you to tag, save, manage and share Web pages all in one place. With emphasis on the power of the community, Delicious greatly improves how people discover, remember and share on the Internet." Learn how to get started on the Delicious help page.

There are some features that may be of particular interest to the Ryerson community:

Looking for something specific?

We've organized our tags into bundles. On the right side of the window, you'll see a list of these bundles. Click the names of the bundles to expand the menu. You will then be able to see every tag placed in that bundle and how many bookmarks have been tagged with it. Click the tag name to view the bookmarks.

You can also drill down through multiple layers of tags to find, for example, any bookmarks on inclusive classrooms written by Barbara Gross Davis and posted to the Stanford University website. Just start typing into the search window after our username at the top left side of the page. Select a tag, click the arrow and then type another tag.

Harness the power of social bookmarking!

Not only will you be able to search the LTO's tags on Delicious, you will be able to access bookmarks saved by like-minded individuals all over the globe! You will also be able to interact with the LTO, share our links through a variety of platforms, or send us pages that you think will be of interest to us.

The numbers listed on the right side of each bookmark represent how many other people have saved that same exact link to their own Delicious accounts. Clicking on the number will take you to a page showing all the other users who have saved that link and the tags they used to identify it. This is a handy way of finding new resources on a similar topic.

If you have a Delicious account, you can join our network on Delicious! Simply click "Add to my network" at the top right hand corner of the screen. You can then keep track of our most recent bookmarks on your network page.

You can also send us links using Delicious! Simply type "ryersonlto" into the "For" box when you're editing a bookmark. You can also use the "For" box to send bookmarks to any email address or even send them to your Twitter feed.

We hope you find Delicious to be of use and look forward to hearing your feedback!
