The Learning & Teaching Office has gathered a variety of resources and reports to assist faculty and students in enhancing their classroom learning environment.

We hope this page will provide you with the necessary tools to support your diverse student body.

  • Universal Design for Learning: Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is the design of instructional materials and activities that allow learning goals to be achieved by individuals with wide differences in their abilities to see, hear, speak, move, read, write, understand English, attend, organize, engage, and remember.
  • Supporting Student Writers: The LTO has compiled a series of resources to support instructors who are working with student writers, including tips on assessing student writing.
  • Diversity and Inclusive Teaching: The LTO has developed a series of documents on creating a safe and inclusive classroom, as well as managing controversial and difficult discussions.
  • Supporting EAL Students: The LTO, in partnership with English Language Support, and the Writing & English Language Proficiency Working Group have developed this page for faculty members teaching students who use English as an additional language (EAL).
  • Academic Support for Students: Learn about the services for students provided by Student Learning Support, and how they can enhance learning in your courses.
  • Teaching Information Literacy: Information literacy is the ability to recognize when information is needed and to locate, evaluate, and use the needed information effectively and ethically. This page of resources has been developed to help instructors integrate information literacy into their curriculum.
  • Promoting Academic Integrity: The Office of Academic Integrity has prepared a Frequently Asked Questions document as well as two helpful pamphlets filled with best practices aimed specifically at Ryerson faculty.
  • Supervising Graduate Students: Graduate student supervision can be a complex process. In collaboration with the Yeates School of Graduate Studies, we at the LTO, have developed some resources to assist.
