Math Problems Solving Club

The Math Problems Solving Club formed at the end of the Fall 2010 term and has been going strong ever since.

Regular meetings are held in SHE 598 during the Fall and Winter semesters. (Hours will be posted when available.)

There are two main purposes of the Math Problems Solving Club:

  1. to develop a keen interest in problems solving
  2. to get acquainted with some of the many interesting topics in mathematics and techniques in problems solving that are rarely encountered in a typical math curriculum

In terms of mathematical background, many of the topics discussed require no more than an understanding of high school algebra. The weekly problems that are examined are typically elementary in nature but their solutions often require some clever logical processing.
