Statistics Canada, Census Geography Census geography covers a wide range of geographic areas - from provinces and territories down to city blocks. These geographic areas have boundaries, names, and other information that make it possible to locate them on the ground and to relate census data to them.
Statistics Canada, 2006 Census of Canada: Thematic Maps website provides a collection of thematic maps (PDF format) that illustrate the spatial distribution of one or more specific data themes for standard geographic areas. Levels of geography include National, Regional, and Census Metropolitan Areas.
Statistics Canada, 2006 Census of Canada: GeoSearch finds any place in Canada, shows it on a map, and gives basic Census data for that place. This application has features that may not be accessible to all users, but all the information it presents can be found on the Population and Dwelling Tables, and reference maps.
Statistics Canada, 2006 Census of Canada: Reference Maps identify the location of geographic areas for which census data are tabulated and disseminated. The maps display the boundaries, names and codes of standard geographic areas, as well as major cultural and physical features such as roads, railroads, coastlines, rivers and lakes.
TIGER/Line Files allows users to download various versions of the Census Bureau's TIGER (Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing) database (the data can also be accessed via the ESRI web site).
