The World/Global

  • AB Maps is an interactive mapping application that allows users to perform geospatial queries such as address finding, routing, and points-of-interest. In addition, a weather service enables users to find detailed information about the weather in different regions of the country.
  • Daft Logic is a collection of resources, tools and information with no overall theme, except to see what can be done with modern web API's tools and programming languages..

  • Emporis is one of the world's largest available platforms concerning building-related information. Here you find buildings, companies and photos in more than 50,000 cities worldwide. As an open platform, Emporis.com allows users and companies from all over the world to participate in the completion of building information in their own cities.

  • Flash Earth allows users to explore satellite and aerial imagery of Earth from multiple sources inluding NASA, Microsoft and more inside a single Flash-based interface.
  • Gelogic Map of Africa and USGS are maps that show geology, oil and gas fields and geological provinces of Africa.

  • Google Maps is a free Internet Mapping Application that combines maps, local business search, satellite imagery, street-level search, and driving directions. Google Maps allows users to acquire integrated business search results, to take advantage of a draggable mapping environment featuring high quality satellite imagery, and to get detailed driving directions to various destinations in North America and the World.

  • Google Earth combines the power of Google Search with satellite imagery, maps, terrain and 3D buildings to put the world's geographic information at your fingertips. It is available under three different licenses: Google Earth (free version with limited functionality), Google Earth Plus (including additional functionality) and Google Earth Professional (intended for commercial use).

  • HealthMap is a global disease alert map that brings together disparate data sources to achieve a unified and comprehensive view of the current global state of infectious diseases and their effect on human and animal health. This freely available Web site integrates outbreak data of varying reliability, ranging from news sources (such as Google News) to curated personal accounts (such as ProMED) to validated official alerts (such as World Health Organization).
  • Map24 allows users to build complex routes with up to five intermediate waypoints anywhere in North America, Europe, Brazil, the Middle East, Australia, and South Africa. The service provides the locations of travel essentials along travel routes such gas stations, rest stops, restaurants, and lodging. Additionally, the application allows users to specify road type, the level of detail desired for driving directions, and preferred driving speeds. It also offers 2-D or 3-D on-screen maps in a user friendly interface.

  • Maporama is a global service offering free maps and directions to and within 61 different countries including the United States, Canada, and Europe. The application allows users to generate routes with intermediate stops, and allows for specification of road preferences.

  • MSN Virtual Earth (Live Search Maps) is a free global mapping and search service that allows users to search for entities in specific locations, see bird's eye or 3-D views of many major cities, find traffic reports, and explore the globe in an interactive environment.

  • MapQuest is a free online Web mapping service that allows users to acquire street-level detail and driving directions for countries including Canda, the United States and many more.

  • Maptuit is a global location-based mapping application featuring over 40 million roads, addresses, bridges, tolls, and fuel stops.

  • Multimap offers a wide variety of services including a global mapping service and driving directions for the U.S., Australia, and a selection of European countries.

  • NASA A camera aboard NASA's Mars Odyssey spacecraft has helped develop the most accurate global Martian map ever. Researchers and the public can access the map via several websites and explore and survey the entire surface of the Red Planet. The pictures have been smoothed, matched, blended and cartographically controlled to make a giant mosaic. Users can pan around images and zoom into them. Click here for parent directory. 
  • National Geographic Map Machine is an interactive mapping application that provides access to political and physical maps and information for anywhere in the world by the National Geographic Society.
  • Nokia Maps is an internet service that enables you to browse places all over the world in.  One of the interesting features of Nokia Maps is it's 3D capabilities.
  • Poverty Mapping is a clearinghouse for graphic representations and spatial analysis of poverty patterns.

  • ViaMichelin is an interactive mapping application that covers the U.S., Canada, and 41 European countries. The application allows users to generate routes with intermediate stops, and allows for specification of road preferences.

North America

  • GeoCoder.ca is an Internet service that allows users to Geocode any North American location at no charge.

  • Maps On Us is a service that allows users to build a point-to-point route within the U.S., and then add up to five additional intermediate stops along the way. The option exists to build a circular route which returns the user to a starting location after visiting all the specified points.

  • Rand McNally is an interactive mapping application that provides several free routing options including a basic point-to-point tool, one which allows specification of intermediate stops, and an automatic round-trip routing option. The geographic scope of this application is limited to the lower 48 U.S. states.

  • The Atlas of Canada features over 200 interactive maps based on the following subjects: environment, people and society, economy, history, climate change, freshwater, and health. Reference and topographic maps are also available, along with map archives and a glossary of cartographic terms. The Atlas of Canada most recently released a series of climate maps featuring Snowcover, Temperature, and Precipitation maps in Canada.

  • Social Explorer (United States Interactive Demographic Information Maps) is dedicated to providing easy access to demographic information about the US through interactive data maps. User can use Social Explorer to make maps and reports, visualize/analyze US demography, and explore historical demographic data.

  • Yahoo Maps is an interactive mapping application that allows users to search for local maps, driving directions, and information on local businesses.

Ontario

  • City of Toronto IMS is an interactive mapping application that allows users to zoom, pan, identify and overlay orthophotos and various other interactive legend features.
  • Explorer's Map is an interactive, google-based community for the Toronto Bay and our waterfront.
  • Interactive Map of Hamilton (iMapper) allows users to investigate the City of Hamilton's application of GIS technology with topics including aerial/elevation mapping, community services, planning and economic development public works, and tax impacts.

  • Municipal GIS Sources in Ontario via the University of Waterloo includes a list of links to interactive mapping applications throughout Southern Ontario. Municipalities include Waterloo, Kitchener, the Cities of Toronto, Hamilton, Ottawa, Brampton, Mississauga, Guelph, and Oakville, the Regional Municipalities of York and Niagara, and Bruce, Simcoe, and Oxford counties.
  • OGSR Library provides a link to an interactive map depicting Petroleum Wells in Ontario.

  • Virtual City Map is an Internet Mapping Application that incorporates accurate street-level photography for locations of interest within the City of Toronto.
  • Well Being Toronto This web app allows you to look at and combine various indicators about neighbourhood wellbeing in the City of Toronto.
  • Wind Resource Atlaslets you view colour-coded maps of many wind statistics for any one-square-kilometre area in the province. This mapping tool shows Ontario's wind energy potential and identifies promising sites for future wind energy development.
