Working With Geospatial Data at Ryerson
GIS Procedures
The Geospatial Map and Data Centre (GMDC) provides access to free online procedures that have been created to help users work with the geospatial data resources available through the Ryerson University Library. Specfically, procedures have been develped for GIS software including ArcGIS 9.x/8.x, ArcView 3.x, and MapInfo. Procedures have been organized under the following categories:

- Cartographic Analysis Procedures

- Using DTM and DEM Data

ArcGIS Desktop Tutorials
Additional tutorials can be found through the ArcGIS 9.2 Desktop Help. These tutorials are in PDF format or short animation and help you learn to use ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Extensions.
ESRI Virtual Campus
The GMDC provides access to free online GIS courses to members of the Ryerson Community (faculty, students & staff) for the purpose of academic, teaching and non-commercial research. These courses are available through the ESRI Virtual Campus. The courses consist of tutorials and backgroud readings related to various aspects of ESRI software products, namely ArcGIS 9.x. Consult the List of GIS Software Available through the Geospatial Map and Data Centre to view the various GIS software available to Ryerson University students. This software is necessary to complete ESRI Virtual Campus courses.
Members of the Ryerson Community may submit a request via email to the Map and GIS Librarian to acquire course codes.
Please Note that ESRI online courses are only available to current staff, faculty and students at Ryerson University. Once the registration procedure is completed, courses are available for one-year after the activation date.
