Research Expertise: Customer Service Management, Business Simulations and Culinary Tourism

David Martin holds a Doctorate of Business Administration from the University of Sarasota, Florida, a Master of Science in Service Quality Management from the Rochester Institue of Technology, and a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Ryerson University.
His research has been published in the Journal of Hospitality and Leisure Marketing, The Journal of Travel Research and The Journal of Applied Hospitality Mangement. He has consulted with The Royal Bank, J.W. Marriott Corporation, and Cendant Corporation in the development of customer satisfaction measurement tools and executive development training programs in service management. He has also developed and delivered management training programs for both Delt Hotels and Accor Hotels and Resorts a using real-time computerized simulation program. This training emphasizes a balanced approach to opertions management that recommends both financial as well as service management strategies for running a successful hotel operation.

Research Expertise: Supply Chain and Operations Management, Information Systems.

As a Principal Consultant with Korva Consulting Ltd., Dr. Tim McLaren has over 15 years of experience working with large organizations in the manufacturing, retail, government, and financial services sectors in technology-enabled process improvement, supply chain management, and enterprise systems implementation projects. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Queen’s University and an MBA and PhD from McMaster University. Dr. McLaren’s research on the strategic alignment of information systems appears in several journals and books including Supply Chain Forum, International Journal of Production Economics, and Journal of Enterprise Information Management. Dr. McLaren’s recent teaching experience includes courses on measuring and improving supply chain performance, strategic management of information systems, project management, systems analysis, and process redesign for professional clients, industry associations, and undergraduate and graduate students.

Research expertise: Behavioural modeling, psychometric, retail atmospherics

Dr. Richard Michon holds a BA in Humanities (RMC, Kingston), a MBA in Finance, and a PhD in marketing and quantitative methods (HEC-Montreal). He has taught undergraduate and graduate students in strategic market planning, distribution channels, advertising and sales promotion, new product management, consumer behaviour, merchandising, marketing research, business economics, operations management, database marketing, and data mining. Michon’s research and publication domains include psychometrics, structural equation modeling, hierarchical linear models, consumer values and retail atmospherics. Michon has acquired extensive professional experience in the retail, food processing, telecommunications, public utilities, manufacturing industries, and major NGOs in Canada, the U.S. and Europe. He has completed consulting mandates in strategic market planning, quantitative and qualitative research, database marketing, business intelligence, data mining and analytical Customer Relationship Marketing.

Research Expertise: Management of Information Systems, Media Management

Dr. Middleton holds a Canada Research Chair (Communication Technologies in the Information Technology Society), and is an Associate Professor in the Ted Rogers School of Information Technology Management. Catherine received her PhD from the Schulich School of Business at York University. She is a co-author (with ITM colleagues Wendy Cukier, Ken Grant and Denise Shortt) of Innovation Nation, a book profiling successful Canadian technology entrepreneurs. Catherine teaches courses on Innovation and Organizations in the MBA. She recently completed a research project studying consumer adoption of broadband technologies, and has published several papers on BlackBerry adoption. Catherine is now studying the deployment of community and municipal wireless networks. Catherine's research focuses on consumer/citizen adoption and usage of new communication technologies. She is working with colleague Ozgur Turetken to learn more about the organizational impacts of BlackBerry adoption. With colleagues at York University and the University of Toronto, she recently completed a research project studying the deployment of community and municipal wireless networks (CWIRP). She has also completed studies of broadband internet adoption, and published multiple papers on Internet usage in Canada. Her current research projects include a study of the development of the Australian National Broadband Network, and a study of mobile phone usage in Canada.
