TREB Commercial Division Award Program
Concept:
To foster awareness of the commercial real estate industry in the GTA and the Toronto Real Estate Board among post secondary students. This program will provide a student with hands on experience in commercial real estate research as well as assist in their financial obligations during their graduate studies.
Commitment:
Continue for a period of three years with Ryerson University. To be re-assessed after three year period.
Eligibility:
Students enrolled in the MBA program at Ryerson University. Applicants must also be available to complete a summer employment term on a full time basis from (May to August inclusive) with TREB’s Commercial Division.
Selection Process:
Candidates must write an essay (1,000 words max.) discussing their interest in the field of commercial real estate, their academic experience, (what skills and experiences they feel would prove useful for the analysis of the commercial real estate market) and provide a project suggestion(s) for their work term (May-August) at TREB. We are seeking motivated candidates above all else, however a background in Microsoft Excel, Geographic Information Systems, Economics or Statistics and Information Technology would be helpful. From the pool of applicants, Commercial Division Sub-Committee (consisting of the Chair, Vice Chair, Past Chair and Commercial Researcher) will select one recipient on an annual basis, subject to the approval of the Executive Council Commercial Division.
Award Funding:
The successful candidate will receive a total award of $5000 as well as a full-time position at TREB for the summer months to research commercial topics and assist the Commercial Department. The award will be issued in two installments: $2500 in April and an additional $2500 upon successful completion of the summer employment term.
