Three of the most popular MBA competitions to take place early in the New Year

The John Molson MBA International Case Competitionthe MBA Games, and the Rotman and Net Impact CSR Case Competition will take place in January 2012, and Ryerson’s MBAs at the Ted Rogers School of Management are eager to compete.  "The Ryerson MBAs are uniquely positioned to pursue the challenges of the games," states Professor Dale Carl, Director of Graduate Students at Ted Rogers School of Management. "They are a superb and dedicated group of students who have already proven themselves in competitions to date, earning the accolades of their counterparts at other business schools."

Indeed, though the Ryerson MBA program has only been around since 2006, its students have performed exceedingly well in competitions, games and events. For example, a team of Ryerson MBA students won first place at the sixth annual Tata Cup Sustainability Case Competition at Concordia University in Montreal last year. The competition, which focuses on corporate social responsibility, challenges students to strategize sustainable solutions to current corporate dilemmas. "While the Ryerson MBA program is young, our victory indicates how quickly and successfully the school is establishing itself,” said Shane Saunderson, team member and President of Ryerson’s MBA Student Association (2010-2011).  Another member of the Ryerson team, Jen Hiscock, found the event to be a “key experience”, but not because of winning.  “Granted I am proud of our team's achievement,” acknowledges Ms. Hiscock, “but rising to the challenge of crafting a compelling business case that incorporated economic, environmental and social sustainability goals helped me to further develop valuable skills and insight. Those skills and insight are part of what I think the world demands from our future leaders in business, policy, and society as we come together to face escalating interconnected problems.”

As 2010 Tata Cup winners, the Ted Rogers School of Management hosted this year’s Tata Cup.  Kirk MacKay, member of the organizing committee and current MBA student, looks at the January competitions with anticipation:  “The Tata cup was a great opportunity for students to network and interact with one another, professors and industry representatives from across the continent.  I look forward to developing and expanding these relationships at January’s events!”
