A team of four MBA students from the Ted Rogers School of Management competed in the John Molson International Case Competition at Concordia University in Montreal.  The team finished second in their division, placing tenth among 36 renowned MBA schools from across the globe in what is one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious MBA case competitions.

The competition requires each team to prepare detailed strategies for six business cases and present them to panels of judges, without the use of internet of computers. The teams are then judged on the overall creativity, plausibility, and substance of their strategies.

Under the guidance of coach Dr. Dale Carl, the Rogers team consisted of MBA students Haran Moorthy, Guinevere Orvis, Elizabeth Sullivan, and Susan Zabolotniuk.

The students were very pleased with their results. “We had to develop a solution to a real business case and present it to a judging panel of over 200 senior business execs” said Moorthy, “The judges were extremely impressed with our performance, and so were we”.

Coach Carl also commented on the success, “The results speak for themselves; the Ryerson MBA is producing students with a tremendous capacity to apply strategic business solutions to real business cases.  We are very proud of what our students have achieved here.”

Last year the Ryerson MBA team was the only Canadian school to place in the Molson competition.  For more on competitions visit http://www.ryerson.ca/mba/experience/competitions/
