Ted Rogers School of Management Earns Distinguished Accreditation

AACSB

Ryerson University has earned accreditation for its Ted Rogers School of Management (TRSM) by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International, the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degrees in business and accounting.

AACSB accreditation is considered the hallmark of excellence in business education, and has been earned by less than five percent of the world's leading business schools. TRSM joins business schools in 40 countries including 18 Canadian institutions that maintain AACSB accreditation. In addition to ensuring that a school delivers high-quality, relevant management education, accreditation also directly benefits students, faculty and the university as it offers the potential for new opportunities and potential partnerships with other leading international institutions.

"The AACSB accreditation of the Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson is a major achievement and a formal recognition of our commitment to excellence in student engagement, graduate programming and scholarly, research and creative activity," said Alan Shepard, provost and vice president academic.

Achieving accreditation was a rigorous seven-year process that involved internal reviews, evaluation and adjustment. During this time, TRSM developed and implemented a transformative plan to meet the AACSB accreditation standards, and which entailed an intensification of research, ongoing improvements to curricula and support for students to foster a high-quality teaching environment responsive to the needs of business. The effort was led by Wendy Cukier, associate dean, academic, TRSM and Ryerson's incoming vice-president, research and innovation. Cukier was supported by a committed team of students, faculty and staff, and strong leadership was provided by the Office of the Dean and his team of directors and chairs.

"We are thrilled to have earned the prestigious AACSB accreditation and to join this illustrious group of accredited business schools," said Ken Jones, dean, Ted Rogers School of Management. "This accreditation elevates Ryerson to an international league of business schools, creating enhanced opportunities for our faculty and students."

As is required by the AACSB standards, TRSM will go through a peer review process every five years in order to maintain its accreditation.
