Ryerson MBA
Ryerson wins MBA Games Spirit Award, and places a close second overall in MBA games

Once again the Ted Rogers School of Management has demonstrated its unique strengths outclassing much larger more established business schools in the National MBA Games. Competing with twenty schools from across Canada Ryerson placed first in the “Spirit” category, and second place in the “Academic” category, where it won the Strategy competition and placed fourth in Marketing. In sports it placed second in ultimate Frisbee and had a respectable showing overall particularly given the relatively small size. “The points tally had to be done three times to ensure it was correct. Ryerson fell only one point out of one hundred short of the University of Alberta,” said Shane Saunderson, president of the Ryerson MBA Students’ Association and a competitor in the games noted “We fell one point short out of a hundred behind the University of Alberta. I cannot even begin to describe how proud I am of this program for everything we were able to achieve, not simply over the past three days, but the past four months.” Dale Carl, Director of Graduate Students, faculty, and alumni worked for months with the 30-person team practicing and preparation. Associate Dean, Wendy Cukier, who attended the games said “For me, the academic competition is important, but winning the spirit competition is what makes me most proud. Ryerson has a distinctive MBA. We know our students’ technical skills get them in the door but their interpersonal skills, team skills and leadership ability are what help them advance and build our brand.”
