Ryerson’s MBA/MMSc team edged out fifteen other schools– ten from Canada and five from the USA – to win the prestigious TATA Cup case competition held in Montreal on November 20, 2010. The competition was started by TATA Consultancy Services and the Schulich School of Business in 2005 and has steadily grown in scope and prestige. The cases are built on scenarios drawn from recent events and evaluation places a strong emphasis on corporate sustainability and social responsibility. “Our team demonstrated the most comprehensive and current knowledge of CSR guidelines and best practices,” said Dale Carl, Director of Graduate Students who coached the team and accompanied them to the competition. “Their analysis was thorough and presented in a manner that clearly told their story. Ultimately, because of their confidence and enthusiasm, they built a rapport with the judges that no other team established.” As a result of winning this prestigious competition, the Ted Rogers School of Management will host next year's event. The team included students from the Masters of Management Science (MMSc), the MBA with a global focus and the MBA in the Management of Technology and Innovation (MTI).
