CANADIAN SOCIETY FOR MECHANICAL ENGINEERING (CSME) FORUM

RYERSON POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITY
Toronto, Ontario, Canada
May 19-22, 1998

FORUM OBJECTIVES AND HISTORY

The Forum promotes the communication and transfer of technology between industry, government agencies, universities and R&D laboratories, through the presentation and discussion of challenges and recent research activities in mechanical engineering and related fields. Special focus themes are included within the Forum as symposia (detailed below). Papers on problems and issues of practical importance are particularly encouraged. This Forum is the fifth in a series of biennial conferences that began in 1990. Ryerson Polytechnic University is proud to be the host of this event in 1998, particularly since that year coincides with Ryerson's 50th anniversary.

TIMETABLE AND INSTRUCTIONS

Prospective authors are asked to submit a 300-500 word abstract to one of the symposium chairs by June 30, 1997 for review and selection. Abstracts should include, for each author, name, title, affiliation, address, telephone and fax numbers, and e-mail address. E-mail abstracts (ASCII format) are acceptable. Authors will be notified of acceptance of abstracts by July 31, 1997. Complete camera-ready papers, and three copies, are to be submitted by October 31, 1997. Submitted papers will be reviewed, and authors will be notified of final acceptance of papers by January 31, 1998. The Forum organizers may re-categorize papers by symposium. Abstracts may be accepted after June 30, 1997, provided that the October 31, 1997 deadline for camera-ready papers is still met.

LANGUAGES

The official languages of the Forum are English and French. Simultaneous translation services will not be available. Abstracts and/or papers may be written in English or French. A French version of this Call for Papers is available from the Forum organizers.

PROCEEDINGS

Papers accepted for presentation will appear in the proceedings, which will be available at the time of the Forum. At least one author must have registered and paid the appropriate fee by February 27, 1998 in order for the paper to be included in the proceedings. Instructions to authors will be included with the notification of acceptance of abstracts.
