Faculty - Mary Sharpe, RM, PhD
Mary has been a practicing midwife in Ontario with
Riverdale Community Midwives in Toronto since 1979. Mary has taught in the Ryerson MEP since 1994.
Her research interests include: changes in midwifery practices following regulation; the confluence of text and practice;
woman-midwife relationships; midwives as paid familial caregivers; the role and status of midwives internationally; intrapartum antibiotic prophylaxis for GBS; prenatal education for parenting; and home birth practice.
