Message from the Chair

Department Chair

Welcome to the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. The department offers four-year accredited programs leading to Bachelor of Engineering degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering. There is also an optional industrial internship program. Moreover, the Department offers graduate programs leading to an M.A.Sc., M.Eng. or Ph.D. degree.

The department is comprised of around 34 faculty and 11 support staff. We have about 750 undergraduate students and 150 graduate students currently enrolled. The faculty is very active in research and brings in about $1.5 million in research and contract funding annually. Equally important is the faculty’s commitment to teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels with many faculty members having some of the highest rankings in teaching assessments within the university.

Everyone in the Department is dedicated to providing one of the best education environments in the country.
