Ryerson MIE is a young, friendly, fast-growing department with a diverse faculty and student population, in an exciting urban setting. Teamwork and applied learning add to a strong theoretical base and a vibrant research lab environment. Research being carried out by our faculty and graduate students includes work in biomechanics, industrial engineering, manufacturing and materials, mechatronics and MEMS, solid mechanics, thermofluids and sustainable energy systems, and vibration dynamics and control.

The department offers a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, which is accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board. Graduates are eligible for Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) status after meeting experience requirements.

The Graduate Program offers MEng, MASc and PhD degrees in the following fields:

  • Manufacturing, Materials and Solid Mechanics
  • Thermofluids
