Biography:

Saeed Zolfaghari is a Professor and the Director of the Industrial Engineering Program at Ryerson University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Ottawa in 1997 and joined Ryerson University in 1999. His primary research interest is productivity improvement of manufacturing and business operations through proper use of resources and reduction of waste. Dr. Zolfaghari specializes in combinatorial optimization and has a broad knowledge in the area of computational intelligence and metaheuristics. Other areas of his research include cellular manufacturing systems, supply chain management, transportation planning and scheduling. His research has been funded by several external agencies and companies that include: NSERC, GEOIDE, MMO, CITO, and WSIB. He is the recipient of the 2006 Practice Prize Award from the Canadian Operational Research Society, the 2007 FEAS Teaching Excellence Award, the 2009 IIE Faculty Advisor Award and the 2010 Ryerson Faculty Service Award.
