Dr. Alison Matthews David is an Assistant Professor in the
School of
Fashion,
Ryerson
University. She holds a PhD in Art History from
Stanford
University. She has published on synthetic dyes, colour theory and the aesthetic movement, Victorian riding habits and the 'fast woman', military uniforms and early Vogue magazine. She is currently working on fashion in Lucy Maud Montgomery's Anne novels with Dr. Kimberly Wahl, and writing a book entitled Fashion Victims: Death by Clothing (Berg Publishers) on clothing causing bodily harm to its makers and wearers.
