Can you picture hordes of people learning a dance step in the heart of Toronto? Ryerson students, staff and faculty will attempt to break the world record for the largest dance class as part of Orientation Week on Thursday, Aug. 30, 1:30 p.m., Dundas Square, Dundas and Yonge Sts. (Rain location: West Kerr Hall, Upper Gym, east of Yonge St., between Gerrard and Gould Sts.)
As part of Ryerson University's Fusion Orientation Week activities, which run from Tuesday, Aug. 28 to Thursday, Aug. 30, Break the Guinness World Record! is one activity that will involve the entire campus community. Forty student dance instructors from the Ryerson Theatre School will either be on stage or in the crowd to teach participants a jazz step. Once everyone learns the move, they will perform the dance number for 10 minutes. Ryerson University President Sheldon Levy and Marion Creery, Director of Student Services, will provide welcome remarks. Comedy troupe and drag queen sensation, the B-Girlz, will also host the event and entertain the audience before the dance class begins.
