David Livingston, the founding president and chief executive officer of Infrastructure Ontario, has been appointed a distinguished visiting scholar at The G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education at Ryerson University. His appointment is effective immediately.
Livingston leads Infrastructure Ontario, the provincial agency responsible for managing the Ontario government’s real estate portfolio and renewing Ontario’s public infrastructure through partnerships with the private sector. He has been the driver in the development of the Alternative Finance and Procurement approach to infrastructure projects, and he is involved in initiatives to modernize government using private sector best practices.
“Ryerson University is honoured to welcome David Livingston to our academic community this year,” said Alan Shepard, provost and vice president academic. “We look forward to his contributions as a distinguished visiting scholar and the wealth of experience, insight and partnership building he brings from the public and private sectors.”
“David Livingston’s appointment to The Chang School reflects our unique mission to be Canada’s leader in delivering innovative and quality life-long learning opportunities,” said Gervan Fearon, dean of The Chang School. “In his role, Livingston will work with The Chang School to support the effectiveness of our continuing education and professional development programs. These programs aim to improve the success of individuals in the workforce and to contribute to the competitiveness and growth of organizations in the Canadian economy.”
“Continuing education and professional development are critical to building leaders in both the private and public sectors,” said Livingston. “I look forward to my involvement with The Chang School dean, educators and researchers to enhance the range of opportunities available to students.”
Prior to joining Infrastructure Ontario, Livingston served as executive vice-president of corporate development at TD Bank and led TD’s strategic initiatives into the United States. During his 30-year career at TD, he was also responsible for various businesses such as e-banking and credit cards as well as staff functions including marketing and product management. Livingston is a director of Infrastructure Ontario, eHealth Ontario, Ovarian Cancer Canada and the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto.
