The Faculty of Communication & Design at Ryerson University announced today a donation of training software technology, Remote Director, from Integrated Color Solutions (ICS) that will be applied within the School of Graphic Communications Management (GCM).
Offering the latest advancements in color accurate monitor proofing in the industry, Integrated Colour Solutions (ICS) is providing education and training software to the School of Graphic Communications Management that will enable its students and researchers to test and investigate colour management principles as they apply to screen based imagery. The technology represents a trend in the commercial printing industry where printers in North America are turning to online (screen) approval of printed content before it goes to press for magazine, book and publications printing.
“The School of Graphic Communications Management is very excited about this donation” explained Dr. Abhay Sharma who uses Remote Director in his classroom. “Students are now able to see the benefits of remote soft proofing. The instructor is able to view the proof via email in a realistic printer-client scenario - with the need to send clients an inkjet hardcopy proof being completely eliminated.”
Ian Baitz, Chair of the School of Graphic Communications Management, emphasized that “Using the latest technologies in the classroom is so important, especially when the technology is one that can provide a real cost savings to the commercial printer”.
Remote Director is the leader in monitor proofing systems, providing unparalleled functionality and performance aimed at keeping production workflows at pace with a demanding and ever-growing marketplace. Through this latest technology, Remote Director also makes it possible for multiple users in various locations to simultaneously access and view contents of a colour accurate proof, discuss and comment on the proofs, and give instructions for corrections.
