Michelle Shephard, author and award winning reporter, will share her insights on investigative journalism and writing with Ryerson University’s School of Journalism students at the prestigious Atkinson Lecture on Thursday, April 11.
Shepard’s passion for journalistic inquiry has taken her around the world: from the streets of Mogadishu, Sana’a, the mountains of Waziristan, refugee camps in Dadaab and Peshawar, to the hubs of political power including Washington and Ottawa. Michelle is the author of two books Guantanamo’s Child: The Untold Story of Omar Khadr, and Decade of Fear: Reporting from Terrorism’s Gray Zone. Currently a national security reporter with The Toronto Star, Shephard will draw on her experience reporting on security issues at home and abroad in her lecture.
Ryerson is pleased to welcome Michelle Shephard as a distinguished guest speaker at the annual Atkinson Lecture. This celebrated lecture is made possible by an Atkinson Charitable Foundation endowment in honour of former Toronto Star publisher Joseph E. Atkinson.
