INNOVATION, ENTREPRENEURSHIP KEY FOR UNIVERSITIES TO STAYING RELEVANT IN CANADA’S BOOMING DIGITAL ECONOMY: RYERSON PRESIDENT SHELDON LEVY
TORONTO, Oct. 24, 2011 --- Universities need to be an innovation hub where entrepreneurial ideas can spark and propel Canada’s digital economy forward, says Sheldon Levy, Ryerson University’s President and Vice Chancellor, in a key speech that he will deliver to the Economic Club of Canada on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 11:45 a.m. Royal York Hotel, 100 Front St. W.
In his speech, President Levy will argue that universities need to encourage students to tap into their entrepreneurial spirit – a gap that exists in today’s postsecondary landscape. Universities also need to be “edu-innovators”: they need to create zones or hubs that support students’ innovative ideas and help bring them to the marketplace, such as Ryerson’s successful Digital Media Zone (@RyersonDMZ).
President Levy will be available for interviews. Please contact Bruce Piercey to schedule an interview at his coordinates below.
