Ryerson #1 in province for highest increase in applications

Student applications

Statistics show the number of high school students applying to Ryerson is steadily climbing.

A total of 40,553 secondary school students have applied to Ryerson for fall 2012, an increase of 7.4 per cent over the same time last year.

Applications across the Ontario university system increased by 2.4 per cent overall.

"The data show students value a Ryerson education," said Sheldon Levy, president of Ryerson University. "Our message of innovation, entrepreneurship and connection to community is resonating with young people who are making important choices about post-secondary education."

Ryerson has the highest absolute increase in applications, according to statistics released this week by the Ontario Universities' Application Centre.

"Credit for these fantastic numbers goes to everyone at Ryerson who works so hard throughout the year to teach, engage, recruit and serve our students," Levy said.
