Our Program

Clinical placements

Theory in practice

Our Collaborative Nursing students have practice placements in every year of the program. The placements are structured to support and reflect that year's curriculum. This allows you to use your growing knowledge of methodology and theory in supervised clinical settings.

Practice placements:

  • Year one - long-term care facility.
  • Year two - continuing care, rehabilitation unit or acute-care setting.
  • Year three - community nursing.
  • Year four - medical-surgical unit, ER, ICU, day-surgery unit, or public health or other setting.

Central Placement Office for the Collaborative Nursing Degree Program

The Central Placement Office for the Collaborative Nursing Degree Program has five full-time staff who plan and co-ordinate each year's placements. And in every setting you'll have guidance from faculty and preceptors (preceptors are experienced nurses specifically assigned to support your learning).
