Placement Students

Consider starting a discussion with your Placement cohorts to compare and share your learning experiences.

Here are three ideas to get the ball rolling.

A.   Share a story from your placement experience on an interprofessional team that involved communication barriers or conflict. It could be something you experienced or witnessed.

  • How does your discipline influence your perspective of this story?
  • What other perspectives are possible from the viewpoint of other disciplines?
  • How was the conflict resolved or not resolved?

B.  Identify the obstacles and opportunities for effective interprofessional working that you experienced or expect to experience in the future (link to status, power hierarchy).

C.   Interview someone from a different profession. For example during a placement, discuss the knowledge and skills of a clinician with another profession. Share the results of your interview online or in your placement group meeting.
