Information on Project Administration

After the awarding of a grant or contract by the sponsor, ORS will continue to assist the principal investigator (PI) with the many administrative matters associated with the work. The PI is accountable to the University and the sponsor for the completion of the project as proposed, while ORS assumes the role of administrative facilitator and liaison with the sponsor.

Primary responsibility for the conduct of the project rests with the PI. This includes responsibility for the research content of the project as defined by the grant application or the contract with the sponsor, the agreed upon deliverables in the case of a contract, the supervision of all personnel on the project, as well as ensuring that all projects costs are eligible and remain within the agreed upon budget. ORS will assist the PI in fulfilling his/her administrative responsibiltiies to the University and the sponsor and will prepare all financial reports for the sponsor.

ORS also co-ordinates the review process for projects which requrie ethical protocols. In the event that a protocol is required, funds may not be releasd until the protocol has received approval.
