Philosophy (MA)

Admissions

We begin considering applications on January 15th, 2012.  Applications will continue to be accepted and considered after January 15th, until our enrolment targets have been met.

The normal admission requirements are a four-year honours undergraduate degree in Philosophy (or a degree from an equivalent program, such as Ryerson’s Arts and Contemporary Studies program with an option in Philosophy) with a minimum of a B+ standing (or its equivalent) in the final half of the program. But we also encourage applications from students with an honours undergraduate degree in another program who have demonstrated in their coursework a strong aptitude for philosophy. If you are not sure whether your undergraduate experience qualifies, please contact us at philosophyMA@ryerson.ca.

Your application must include the following:

  • Ryerson’s Graduate Application Form (2 copies, one with original signature)
  • Supplementary Admission Data Form (2 copies, one with original signature)
  • Statement of Interest (2 copies)
  • Sample of written work (2 copies)
  • Two letters of recommendation (all originals)
  • Transcripts (2 official copies)

English Proficiency Test Score for applicants whose language of instruction during their undergraduate studies was a language other than English. For more information on acceptable standard tests and score requirements, visit www.ryerson.ca/graduate/admissions.

Here is an application checklist with more information.
