BA IN PHILOSOPHYRyerson's new Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy will welcome its first students in the fall of 2013. Students in this four-year, full-time, honours BA program will complete 40 semester-long courses overall, 20 of which will be in philosophy. You will supplement your philosophy classes with classes in social sciences, other humanities and other electives. If you wish, you can also complete one or two minors in a diverse range of fields. Ryerson graduates from this creative and reflective degree program will have the intellectual insights, reasoning ability, and problem-solving skills to excel in a wide variety of jobs in our knowledge-based economy. This program will include diverse learning formats that incorporate experiential learning, independent and group study, group discussion, public dialogue, and lectures. Courses like Project in Applied Philosophy (PHL 802) and Philosophy Engaging Communities (PHL 803) allow students to apply their coursework to contemporary social issues and to engage communities in philosophical discussions. Graduates from this program possess the intellectual insights and the analytical, critical-thinking, abstract-reasoning and problem-solving skills that will serve them well in a wide variety of professions, careers and educational pursuits.
