The popularity of recreational equipment such as in-line skates, roller skates and skate boards has led to their use both indoors and on narrow walkways and pathways outdoors on the campus.  The crowded areas of campus and the braking mechanisms on these devices make it dangerous for both the persons using them and for those people in the area where they are being used.

Application and Scope

All members of the Ryerson community, visitors, contractors and members of the public are expected to abide by this policy.

The use of in-line skates, roller skates, skateboards, scooters and similar devices is prohibited in campus buildings and on the walkways on campus.

This policy falls under the jurisdiction of the Vice President, Administration and Finance.  The application and interpretation of the policy, and its associated procedures, is the responsibility of the Associate Director of Centre for Environmental Health, Safety and Security Management.
