Donna Ratchford is currently Director of the Culture and Strategic Policy Branch for the Culture Division, Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport. In this role, Donna is responsible for policy leadership for the arts, creative industries, heritage and libraries sectors in Ontario, as well as leading the ministry’s corporate and strategic policy team.
Donna has played a key role in a number of significant initiatives including the development of Ontario's Entertainment and Creative Cluster Framework, the suite of six cultural media industry tax credits, the establishment of the Ontario Media Development Corporation, enhanced funding support for the Ontario Arts Council, and development of numerous programs to support the arts, libraries, heritage and museums sectors.
Between September 2010 and May 2012, Donna was Acting Assistant Deputy Minister of the Culture Division, Ministry of Tourism and Culture.
In 2014-15, Donna Ratchford became the third Ontario Public Service Fellow to be associated with the Department of Politics and Public Administration, following Shirley Phillips (2012-13) and Susan Charendoff (2013-14). Click here for the Ryerson Today announcement of her appointment.
With 30 years of government experience, Donna’s knowledge of policy development and program management, partnered with her strength in leading teams, and commitment to leveraging her OPS networks served her very well as she supported the Department of Politics and Public Administration’s MA Program in Public Policy and Administration and connected with the broader Ryerson community.
