Hans Johanson Award
Is awarded to an eligible student who is graduating with a BA in Public Administration and Governance at either Fall or Spring convocation in an academic year, and has the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average among graduating program students not receiving any other award for academic achievement.
Gerda Kaegi Award
Was created to honour a former Chair of the Department of Politics and Public Administration who was instrumental in the creation of the first part-time degree program in Public Administration in Canada. She retired in 1998. The award is given to a student who wrote an outstanding final paper in either PPA30 (Practicum) or PPA31 (Research Paper).
Jack Roy Longstaffe Memorial Award
Is awarded to three eligible students, one graduating from each level (Level 1 Certificate, Level 2 Advanced Certificate, and Level 3 Degree) in either Fall or Spring convocation in an academic year with the highest cumulative Grade Point Average at the time of graduation from their level.
Solly Patel Essay Prize
Was created to honour a former Chair of the Department of Politics and Public Administration, who retired in 1996 and died in 2006. Faculty teaching any Politics or Public Administration course may nominate for the award an essay by any student in any Ryerson program in which the main essay is on a topic related to political or social theory. Nominations are adjudicated by the Awards Committee of the Department of Politics and Public Administration.
Caroline Wheeler Award
Is given to the student who best exemplifies the characteristics and attitude of Caroline Wheeler in her role in the Department, namely: contribution to the program, support for fellow students, diligence and commitment to one’s studies, and participation in the Ryerson community.
Dean’s List
recognises students who have a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 3.67 over a minimum of ten (10) courses
